PLASTIC DRINKING BOTTLE WARNING
Plastic drink bottles kept in the car or in any super heated situation (cars get very hot in the sun), leach xenoestrogens into the liquid and have been linked to breast cancer. (Other hormone related cancers, prostate, testicular, uterine, cervical etc. are all likely influenced by this.) I believe we will hear about unusual cancers and other diseases that will be linked to this. Know that many believe soda kept in the desert heat had something to do with Gulf War Syndrome. Needless to say, don’t keep water or juice bottles in the car, put them in as needed and use promptly, or carry your own purified water or juices in glass, or the safer polycarbonate bottles available at the co-ops. This creates less recycling waste and expense, but do not keep these in the car either as they are not sterile.
HEAD LICE
Head lice are a problem and are safely remedied with NEEM. Use the leaf powder (open capsules) or the seed oil (very potent) and spread through hair and let sit for ½ hour. This kills lice at every stage of development and is SAFE and unlike ‘Lindane’, a very dangerous drug treatment that should not be on the market (so much for the FDA looking out for us). Can be used if the child is reinfected.
HOMEOPATHIC KITS
Keep safe with a kid’s or family homeopathic kit. Homeopathic Children’s kits are available and are safe to use. Use the remedy that best suits the symptoms to prevent having to use drugs unnecessarily. These kits contain remedies that work well for sudden fever, earaches, sniffles, diarrhea, rashes, pain, crankiness, teething, etc. Needless to say if a fever continues call a Naturopath, Homeopath or your Pediatrician.
The homeopathic gels are great to use for kids problem. Sting Stop is a must for all and has uses for stings and bug bites and also for hot red swellings, like an allergic reaction. Keep a tube or spray of Calendula for rashes, cuts, abrasions, and for dry, cracked skin. Hypericum ( St. John’s Wort) is great as a spray to use on bumps and bruises, nerve injuries.
WARNING: Don’t use Arnica topically if skin is broken or abraded. Use Calendula and a cream doesn’t sting as much as the alcohol based gels. Check ingredients. I would recommend an alcohol free topical for kids.
I offer classes on the use of Homeopathic Kits and carry an array of kits for infants and children (these remedies work equally well for adults).
